President John F. Kennedy Assassinated (1963)
The assassination of John F. Kennedy while he was riding in a presidential motorcade in Dallas was a seminal event in American history. Although two official investigations have concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald was the culprit, the assassination is still the subject of widespread speculation and has spawned a number of conspiracy theories.
I was too young to remember this. For me, *my* first "world event" wasn't even Apollo 13, but the Challenger Tragedy. I can still remember with crystal clarity exactly where I was and what I was doing when I found out.
so today is the annual 'stuff yourself silly' day for the United States. At least this year, I did receive an invite to share dinner with friends (waves to Dave) but alas, not enough time to clean out my van, make sure it had enough petrol in it, etc...
maybe next year?
tho I did get a slice of pumpkin pie from another friend's dinner (Judy left early and was rather surprised that Rowan wanted to come home with her rather than stay and play with his cousins)
spent the morn over at her place, going thru the store ads
there are some things I wouldn't mind getting during black friday sales but nothing SO needed that I'm spending the night camped out in front of the store to get. The closest was best buy's sony laptop but since I just bought myself a lifetime TiVo membership and already have a lappy, *shakes head* no.
tho I do want to get the 2G SD card for my Wii
and I feel SOOOOO bad for the employees!
